Safety Update

At RF Events, getting all of our faithful participants back to the racing world SAFELY is our highest priority. Over the previous couple of months, a dedicated safety team was created and is working diligently to come up with the best plan to keep all our racers, volunteers and staff safe. We are consistently keeping up to date with the CDC guidelines as well as the state, county and city guidelines for the location of each individual race. To see a link to a broad outline of what we're working on and continuing to update, click here. This is a fluid situation that continues to change so we will keep updating our plan as warranted. We want to be sure to let you know that we're working on it and looking forward to seeing you at a starting line soon!

Thank you all for your patience and understanding in these incredibly uncertain times as we worked to find a new date for Trail Weekend.
We've worked with the Michigan DNR and all appropriate parties involved with Trail Weekend and the dates for 2020 will be October 24th and 25th. We're excited to now END the Serious Series with Trail Weekend for a fun fall weekend in the woods.
We hope you'll still choose to join us October 24th and 25th for some amazing trail miles! For those who are already registered and choose to participate in the 2020 Trail Weekend we will waive any transfer fee if you choose to change distances. We know by postponing several months your training plan may change. Distance transfers may be processed by e-mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., you have PLENTY OF TIME to make that decision so try not to immediately overwhelm our e-mail. Transfer fees would be waived, but switching to a longer distance would still require paying the difference in price.
Due to the 2020 date change we're excited to introduce ANOTHER chellenge! We understand many of you might already be signed up for a beloved fall half marathon or marathon! For anyone participating in Free Press 13.1 or 26.2, or Grand Rapids 13.1 or 26.2 the weekend before, you're invited to participate in the PAVEMENT TO PINES challenge! This is a running challenge to hit the pavement and then a week later hit the pines at Pinckney Rec area! Of course it will come with a coveted award! Let us know if you're eligible in the pavement to pines at the link below.
If the new 2020 date does not work for your schedule but you still want to be a part of Trail Weekend on your own time we will offer (FOR 2020 ONLY) the option to participate virtually! The virtual race can be done any time at any location (but probably stick to the trails). Shirts and medals would be mailed to participants the week following the physical event. There would still be virtual results and we would send out a link to submit results closer to race day. Virtual participants are not eligible for pavement to pines challenge.
If the 2020 date does not work for you and you are feeling iffy about participating virtually, we will allow deferrals to the 2021 Trail Weekend on April 24 & 25, 2021. If you transfer distances in 2021 transfer fees will still apply. A deferral would make Serious Series participants ineligible for their 2020 prize and would only apply to Trail Weekend. We are unable to offer deferrals for Flirt With Dirt and The Legend.
For those who are still going to join us in 2020, thank you! We can't wait to see you out there in your fall running best. If you would like to change your registration to a virtual registration, participate in Pavement to Pines, or defer to 2021 please fill out THIS FORM by June 1, 2020. After June 1, 2020 all registrations will be solidified as "participating in 2020."
Thank you all so much for your support of RF Events. We appreciate all of your patience while we navigated this ever-changing crisis.
Stay safe, healthy and isolated!

MEDALS FOR WEB trail 2020

 hat and shirt for web

This race, now in its 34th year, started before a single knobby bike tire rolled around

Potowatami Trail.

"Poto", is a big bad loop of hilly kick your butt wilderness single track trail. Due to the fact that most Americans are comatose couch potatoes, the 12,000 acres of Pinckney Recreation Area remains a wilderness, even though it's only a 55 minute drive from metro Detroit.

I do enjoy a solitary run on Poto but once a year it's fun to lace em' up and scamper through the woods with a thousand of my best friends. It's a celebration of dirt, sweat and pain that renews my faith in humanity.

Come join us!
